My practice
I decided to train as a psychotherapist because I was interested in working with people and wanted to understand more about myself and the people around me. I trained at the Karuna Institute in Core Process Psychotherapy. The training takes four and a half years and is a full member of the U.K. Council for Psychotherapy.
I have been practising as a therapist since 1999 and as a supervisor since 2010.
Since 2005, I have worked in the field of mental health in services specialising in supporting those who have experienced trauma, especially complex trauma resulting from childhood sexual abuse. I have a particular interest in trauma, attachment, dissociation and shame and with colleagues provide training to support workers and therapists.
I am a New Zealander by birth. I lived in Cumbria for ten years before moving to Edinburgh in 2000. I am enjoying living in the country of my ancestors. I resource myself and my practice by enjoying the space and freedom of the hills and sea and the company of those that encourage me to open my heart.
